Last updated 22 October 2026
This notice explains, in plain language, what information Nexulern collects, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
The short version
- This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there’s no cookie banner.
- Sign-ups aren’t open yet, so this website doesn’t collect your details through any form. Nothing you type into the early-access form is sent or stored.
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply and help you.
- We need a parent or guardian’s consent before we process a child’s personal information.
- We don’t sell personal information.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
Who we are
Nexulern is a trading name of Kipimo (Pty) Ltd (registration 2023/814251/07), a South African company. In this notice, “Nexulern”, “we” and “us” mean Kipimo (Pty) Ltd, trading as Nexulern.
We decide what personal information is collected through this website and Nexulern, and why. That makes us the responsible party under POPIA.

What this notice covers
This notice covers this website, nexulern.com, and the emails you send us.
Nexulern isn’t open to families yet. Before it opens, we’ll update this notice to cover the information you and your child give us inside Nexulern, and we’ll ask for consent where the law requires it. You can read what we can already tell you under When families can join.
What we collect on this website
- The early-access form: nothing. Sign-ups aren’t open yet, so the form doesn’t send what you type anywhere, and we don’t store it.
- Emails you send us: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write to us.
- Technical information: when you visit, our hosting provider automatically records standard information such as your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. This keeps the website secure and working.
Please don’t send us your child’s personal information by email. If you think a child has sent us their details, tell us and we’ll delete them.
How we use your information
- To reply to your messages and help you.
- To keep this website secure, stop misuse and fix problems.
- To meet our legal obligations.
- Once early access opens, and only if you sign up: to tell you when families can join Nexulern, and to send you news about Nexulern.
We rely on your consent when you email us or sign up, on our legitimate interest in keeping this website secure, and on legal obligations where they apply.
When early-access sign-ups open
Sign-ups aren’t open yet. When they open, this is how they’ll work, and we’ll update this notice if anything changes:
- We’ll ask a parent or guardian for their own email address and, if they like, the grades their children are in. We’ll never ask for a child’s name.
- We’ll send one email to confirm the address before we add it to the list.
- The list will be kept by an email service provider that sends our emails for us.
- Every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also reply and ask us to stop.
Information processed outside South Africa
Some of our service providers, including our hosting provider, store or process information outside South Africa, for example in the United States or the European Union. When that happens, we only use providers that are bound by laws, binding corporate rules or agreements that protect your information in a way comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
- Messages: for as long as we need them to help you. Then we delete them, unless the law says we must keep them.
- Hosting logs: kept for a short time by our hosting provider.
- Early-access list (once it opens): until families can join Nexulern and for 12 months after that, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, whichever comes first.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption between your browser and this website, and access limited to the people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn that someone has accessed your information without permission, we’ll tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.
Children
This website is for parents and guardians. We don’t knowingly collect information from children through it.
Nexulern itself will be used by learners in Grades 4 – 12, and most of them are under 18. POPIA treats a child’s personal information with extra care: we’ll only process it with the consent of a parent or guardian, and only for the purpose of their child’s learning on Nexulern. Before families can join, we’ll explain here exactly how that consent is given and how it can be withdrawn.
When families can join Nexulern
We’ll complete this part before families can join. Here’s what we can already tell you about how Nexulern works:
- A parent or guardian will need to give consent before their child’s information is used.
- To tutor your child, Astrid needs to read what they type, say or upload. Some of the AI and voice services that make this possible are run by providers outside South Africa. We’ll name them here, with the protections in place, before families can join.
- Astrid keeps a short list of what your child finds tricky, so she can pick up from there. Your child can see that list and clear it. Astrid can’t change your child’s work or records, like their marks or flashcards.
- Astrid also keeps your child’s recent conversations with her and a short summary of each session, so she can pick up where they left off. We’ll set out how long these are kept, and how to delete them, before families can join.
- Parents and guardians can log in to their child’s portal to see their learning.
- If you pay for Nexulern, card details will be handled by a payment provider. We won’t store card numbers ourselves.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or delete information that’s wrong, out of date or no longer needed;
- object to us using your information, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time; and
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To make a request, email our Information Officer at jacques@nexulern.com or hello@nexulern.com. We may need to check who you are first. We aim to reply within 30 days.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Information Regulator:
